Honorable Board of Directors,
My family and I live in Argentina and visit my parents in Santa Fe from
time to time. This past July, my wife and my 7 year old son and my 4
year old daughter spent took advantage of our "Winter Vacations" in
Argentina to come and visit my parents in Santa Fe. My parents live in
Texas but have a small house in New Mexico where they plan to retire. My children and my wife absolutely love Santa Fe.
Part of the challenges when we come to the United States for such a short time is to find a place where little kids can splash about and continue practicing on their swimming.
After calling a number of places to find out about temporary memberships, we had the excellent luck of getting in touch with Andrea Murphy-Diaz.
I had left a message on her voicemail after using the Yellow Pages to find information on Santa Fe Country Club and I went through the various options on the message (type 1 if you want to speak with xx).
Andrea called me back early the next day. My wife who is used to Argentina was totally amazed that someone would actually call you back and more impressive would be in good cheer.
After speaking a bit with Andrea she figured out a way that the kids could use the pool a few times and it made a huge difference in our summer.
We had been to the club for a one day outing the previous year because a neighbour of my parents had arranged for an invitation. Although we only used the facilities a few times, knowing that we could escape there on a hot day and actually using it a few times was wonderful and made a huge difference.
We had planned on trying to get my son and my father into golf classes but the summer rains complicated things here a bit. Next year!
Many times I am used to getting a quick "no" but Andrea was really able to step up and outside the box. She made a huge difference and it was a very special moment. Time is very short and my kids are really now feeling their American side too.
I was going to just send a quick mail to Andrea but I thought it was important to let the Board of Directors know that they had a wonderful person with them. I would assume that many of the letters that make it to the Board are more oriented around complaints but I wanted to take a few minutes to let you know that the club is wonderful and very special and Andrea is awesome.
And if you ever have members travelling to Argentina, please do not hesitate to let us know as we can arrange a bit golf too!
A big thank you,
Jeff Hoberman (Lucila Hoberman, Martin Hoberman and Clara Hoberman) |
